Addiction recovery center in Texas is a treatment license or a recovery house
Updated
Addiction recovery center in Texas is two different state papers. A chemical dependency treatment facility under Texas Health and Safety Code Section 464.001 offers or claims to offer a planned, structured, and organized treatment program designed to initiate and promote a person's chemical-free status or to maintain the person free of illegal drugs. A recovery residence on the Adult Substance Use Recovery Residences page is a supportive, shared living environment founded on peer support and connection to community services that promote a person's active participation in their own recovery.

What is an addiction recovery center
Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 464 establishes the state licensing requirements for CDTFs. Under state law, HHSC is responsible for the licensing and regulation of CDTFs in Texas, and the Regulatory Services Division within HHSC carries out these duties. The license rules are in Texas Administrative Code Title 26 Chapter 564. An application under Chapter 464 and 26 TAC 564 is for licensure as a CDTF only, and issuance of a license under those provisions does not satisfy any other applicable requirement for licensure or other form of authorization.
House Bill 299, 88th Legislature, 2023, Regular Session added Chapter 469 in the Texas Health and Safety Code. Section 469.002 requires HHSC to create recovery housing voluntary accreditation rules. Those rules are in 26 TAC Chapter 571, Voluntary Recovery Housing Accreditation. Recovery residences are free from alcohol and other substances and are a common pathway used to transition back into the community following residential treatment.
